Happy February, all! In honor of Black History Month, we are featuring certain characters from the Thread of Souls books.
King Vicrum Grodstrum
Dwarven King Vicrum Grodstrum was ruler over De Behl Marr during the Age of Dragons. He was elected to lead the city of Solia for the great Day of Sealing trap. Vicrum was a key character for the plot in Phantom Five, and played a critical role in Ash & Thunder, as well.
Draxis
The amiable and roguish Draxis is hiding a great secret. He is one of the last dragons left on the Material Plane. When venturing outside of his home, he takes on the guise of a bald Human adorned in gold. Despite a rocky start to their relationship, Draxis is now considered a close ally to our heroes.
Lizbeth
Lizbeth is an acolyte of the temple of the Holy Dragon. This soft-spoken adolescent is happy to serve her god and looks up to the elderly High Priest. During the events of Path of the Spiders, Lizbeth answered Zok’s questions about the changes to An’Ock.
Captain Desmond
Desmond is captain of the castle guard in the great city of An’Ock. He was present during the Doppelgänger Crisis that gripped the city, and served as a key point of knowledge during Artemis’ investigations during the events of Ash & Thunder.
Captain Abell
Abell is a very different type of captain, but no less revered. He is captain of the ship the Fist that makes port in Vonkai and travels the waters of the Bay of Thieves. Abell was hired by our heroes to travel from Vonkai to Oceala, and protected them from a vicious attack by dangerous Druids.

Druid. Nomad. Adventurer. All these words describe the caring and down-to-earth Jade Galanodel. She was born to a nomadic tribe of Wild Elves in the Black Reach Mountains. Jade spent her formative years traveling the Korventine Empire and learning how to navigate the wilderness. Her mother had some Druidic ability which she passed on to her daughter. But when it was clear Jade had enormous potential, a mentor was found for her.
Galen of the Firelit Forest instructed Jade to be a Druid for a century. The two lived in the Firelit Forest together and Jade grew into a powerful spellcaster. Jade also got her first real taste of the cruelties of the world, as her Master Galen’s Half-Fiend heritage made him untrusted in cities.
After Galen passed of old age, Jade took to wandering the Eleste Lands. She made and sold maps and grew her craft of herbalism for income. Her travels led her to the great capital city of Eleste’si, a traditionally High Elf place. She faced racism due to being a Wild Elf. But she stayed when she met the reserved and charming Jasper Galandodel.
The two fell in love and spent many years in the city together. But Jasper’s parents did not approve of the match. The two absconded from the city, traveling together until they settled down in the village of Skyview.
It was a time of great happiness in Jade’s life, where she could be with her fiancé. She also formed a relationship with a Druid Circle that was based out of the nearby Firelit Forest, allowing her to continue her specialty and protect nature.
But the good times were not to last. A necromancer had made his way up the Amakiir River and towards Skyview, leaving death in his wake. He was sacrificing people to his god, the Life Drinker. Jade and her Druid Circle fought the necromancer in Skyview. They were successful in defeating him, but at a great cost. Jasper was killed while getting villagers to safety.
Jade was devasted. For decades she wandered alone. She had lost the will to live her life, and with it nearly all of her magical abilities. There were three things that pulled her out of this depression.
The first was saving the life of a reckless Half-Elven Paladin in Vesper. When he stood up to a group of criminals on the street, he was gravely wounded. She called up nearly forgotten power to heal his wounds. That man would later become her close friend, Brother Zok.
The second was finding an animal companion. She rescued a baby fox from a hunter’s trap. Calling him Foxy, she kept him as a pet and he brought joy and spontaneity back into her life.
The third was a frightening vision. Her connection with nature birthed a terrible vision in her mind. Of a city on the coast, Oceala, ablaze. Attacked by a great red dragon. Oceala was the home of her grandparents, a city they led with pride and kindness.
Jade knew she could no longer waste her life away in the shadows. Even if it meant relearning how to be a Druid all over again, she would protect those she cared about so that no one else would have to feel the pain she did.
We join Jade in the first book of the Thread of Souls series, the Phantom Five. She is living in Somberdale and is good friends with Brother Zok and the boisterous Captain Sen. Jade’s hope is that staying in this port town will allow her to hear rumors of any dragons. She knows that once she has a place to begin, she can hunt this red dragon down and stop it from destroying Oceala.
The Day of Sealing was a monumentous moment in history for Corventos. It was so impactful that it forever changed the way the people lived, and it ushered in a new era. Let’s take a look at what happened that day, and why it is remembered everywhere.
The Age of Dragons
Before the Day of Sealing was the Age of Dragons. This age took place between year 2000 and year 0 BDS. After the gods departed the world, the next most powerful beings took control. The dragons. They made great lairs for themselves, leveled cities, and altered the landscape around them. While this was an age of great heroes fighting back the beasts, it was also a time of great death and danger. All of Corventos knew something had to be done, or they risked extinction.
The Clairvoyant Arcane
A High Elf Arcanist named Viscera Dante rose to the challenge. She was a pioneer in the then new field of the arcane, and was performing extensive research on other planes of existence. She hatched a plan that would rid Corventos of dragons forever.
Her first step was gathering the most powerful mages of the time. This group of nine called themselves the Clairvoyant Arcane. Together, they created the Clairvoyant Mirror. It was heavily enchanted and built by using gems from other planes. This mirror would be able to open portals and keep them open long enough to force the dragons through. They would cast them from this plane of existence, never to return again.
The City of the Sun
To pull this off successfully, they knew they had to lay the perfect trap. Something that no dragon could resist. A hoard of treasure. Viscera enlisted the help of the Dwarves of De Behl Marr. Under the leadership of Dwarven King Vicrum Grodstrum, they delved into the great mountain and mined all the gold and gems they could find. The Clairvoyant Arcane also asked for donations of wealth and gold from other cities around Corventos, but De Behl Marr provided the vast majority.
Over a series of years, these treasures were shipped from the east of Corventos all the way to the desert in the west. The port city of Vonkai was established to facilitate this process. And two days north of Vonkai, in the middle of the Expanse, they built a city from all the riches acquired.
They called it Soleia, the City of the Sun. King Vicrum volunteered to lead this city. But it was designed as a trap. All the denizens that lived there were warriors and spellcasters. And the Clairvoyant Mirror was safely hidden within the very halls of Soleia.
The Day of Sealing
At last, the time came. Dragons descended on the city, ready to take the hoard for themselves. And when they did, the trap was sprung. The gathered armies revealed themselves and battled the dragons over the desert. Viscera Dante led her Clairvoyant Arcane in using the mirror to open portals. One by one, the dragons were forced through to other planes of existence. Even the reclusive giants of Corventos came to assist, using their superior size to drive back these violent foes.
Victory
Victory was hard won, and there were many lives lost. But Soleia remained standing, and Corventos was freed of dragons. The giants returned to their homes, and Vicrum remained King over Soleia to lead it into a bright future.
Viscera Dante and the Clairvoyant Arcane went on to found the powerful Citadel to be a hub of magical expertise. They also ushered in the new age, the Warding of the Planes, to ensure no dragon would ever break through again. Unfortunately, it was during an expedition to the Gloomdwell that all members of this group were lost to the dangers beyond. Only Lustrik Weaver returned, driven to madness.
The calendar was marked a new, the year starting at zero and the era referred to as “After the Day of Sealing”. Viscera went down in history, with a month, a comet, and even a bay named after her.
But ever since that day, planar travel has been illegal. And people have always lived in fear at what lies in wait on the other side of these planes.
Winter’s Eve is a tradition celebrated across Corventos from the 30th – 40th of Visceraloch. While it begins on the Winter Solstice, different cultures and religions have their own spin on the festivities.
What is Winter’s Eve?
Beginning on the Winter’s Solstice, this celebration happens the last ten days of the year. It focuses on the completion of one year and the beginning of a new. It is a time for resting and being with loved ones. Because of the shorter and darker days, many lights are lit across cities and small towns. There are typically shows, parades, singing, and food. Songs focus on the year ending, hopes for the new year, and giving gifts. A common saying throughout Corventos is “Blessings upon you!”, and it is inspired by the culture of the Forge King’s worshippers.
What is Thruumdar’s Workshop?
Thruumdar, the Forge King, is the god of crafts, work, and blessings. He is known for blessing his followers with specific talents and gifts, something that Dark Dwarf culture centers entirely around. During Winter’s Eve, followers of Thruumdar will build crafts based on their own unique skills and give them out freely to people. It is a show of generosity and a sense of community, earning this tradition the name Thruumdar’s Workshop. The saying “Blessings upon you!” derives from this.
How does the Korventine Empire celebrate?
There are large community meals based around their last harvest. Sweet potatoes, squash, and ham are all popular to serve. In the capital city An’Ock there is a big focus on Thruumdar’s Workshop. A large area of the city is converted to a gift buying center with supposed Dwarvish-style food and clothes. But the focus is more on spending money rather than the true root of this tradition.
How does the Expanse celebrate?
The Festival of Reflections is popular in the desert settlements. Boats will sail out onto the water at night and light colorful lanterns. The colors represent the gems brought to the great city of Soleia for the Day of Sealing, a historical day that banished the dragons from this plane of existence. It is said if you look at the reflections of the lantern lights on the water, you might see a glimpse of what the new year will bring you.
How does Eleste’si celebrate?
Known as the City of Blossoms, Eleste’si’s famous cherry blossom trees are dormant this time of year. So, it is a tradition to paint wooden cherry blossoms and hang them from the bare branches across the city. Some tree farmers grow these trees for the people to bring into their homes and decorate.
How does Oceala celebrate?
This beautiful tropical and coastal city celebrates by honoring their protector, Majora. They give offerings into the water in hopes Majora will continue to guard the city for another year. Sometimes, the great dragon turtle will emerge and tell stories to the people gathered on the beaches.
How does the Iron Gauntlet celebrate?
Within the Monastery of the Fallen Star, the monks will write on slips of paper what they hope to banish for the next year. That might be bad habits, struggles of the community, or even difficulties across Corventos as a whole. They then burn these papers. But across the wilder and more remote parts of the Iron Gauntlet, they build large effigies of scary monsters and burn them in hopes of banishing negative spirits.
How does Sunspire celebrate?
The City of Ensemble will host a large community-centered party in the middle of the city. It celebrates diversity and the acceptance of everyone. They will craft a huge Sunspirian symbol in the center of the plaza and people are free to leave tags on it for items they need. Other people can choose a tag, get that gift, and leave it at the Sunspirian symbol.
What is the Festival of the Dawn?
Followers of Li’alda, the Lady of Light, will celebrate the Festival of the Dawn. Their temples and shrines will shine with a multitude of yellow lights.
What is the Festival of New Life?
Naydrin, the Life Giver, is celebrated with the Festival of New Life. Her followers commemorate surviving the year and the new life coming for plants, animals and people when spring comes around again.
We discuss some big fantasy news of the week as Magic: The Gathering announced it is making a Lord of the Rings card set.
When Magic: The Gathering announced a Dungeons & Dragonsset we ordered 500 cards as soon as possible. One of the game makers’ next crossovers is Lord of the Rings and we couldn’t be more excited. Announced during Magic Showcase 2021, the set will release in 2023.
That’s a long way off from now but it gives us time to speculate on what kind of cards will be included. Characters like Gandalf, Galadriel, and Elrond have great potential to be planeswalkers as do Saruman and Sauron. Whereas heroes such as Frodo, Samwise, Gimli, and the rest of the Fellowship would make great legendary creatures.
“It is such a big world. So many stories, so many characters…and the only way we could pull it off was to do a full set.” Said Mark Heggen product architect for Magic the Gathering. “We have these characters with so much backstory and their own personality and their own history and now we get to put them on a Magic card and we want to both be true to their spirit and put a little Magic twist on them.”
The Lord of the Rings: Tales of Middle-earth will also be releasing on MTG Arena and Magic Online.
We look at must-see attractions for any fans of fantasy in Colorado Springs, CO!
When you think of Colorado Springs, CO, you probably think of the Rocky Mountains, lots of hiking trails, and a high altitude. All of those are accurate! But for fans of fantasy, there is also plenty to enjoy. You don’t have to be an athlete used to the mile-high life to enjoy these attractions. And two of them are completely free!
Garden of the Gods
If you are looking for an inspiring landscape, Garden of the Gods is one of our top spots. It is so beautiful that it simply evokes another world. If you are an avid hiker, there are large and rougher trails you can enjoy. But if you are less experienced in hiking, the central garden area has plenty of sidewalk paths . There are also multiple scenic spots to park and enjoy. Best of all: it’s free!
Traveler tip: It is best not to visit on weekends, evenings, or during summer / spring breaks. The Garden of the Gods is already an incredibly busy place, but those times will find you waiting in a line to park. A morning weekday was our go-to for quick parking and more space to enjoy.

Bishop Castle
This one is a bit of a drive from Colorado Springs. You are looking at close to two hours into the mountains. But is it worth it? I definitely think so! Quirky, strange, and it has its own dragon. What is better for a fantasy fan? This “castle” was built by one man over a time, and its architecture, tight staircases, and towers all offer fun photo opportunities.
Traveler tip: This castle is . . . well, not the safest. Some ledges lack rails, and some pieces of the floor have broken away. Please be cautious. Climbing around is plenty of fun so long as you test your weight before going.

Colorado Mountain Brewery
Colorado Springs is definitely not short on interesting places to eat. But if you are visiting the state, you probably want something that combines a fantasy feel with a great mountain view. Colorado Mountain Brewery is the spot for you! With gorgeous sweeping views of the Rocky Mountains, this restaurant offers indoor and patio seating. It has a comfy lodge feel inside along with a display of their brewery. The food is delicious and fun. If you have never had bison before, now is your chance! There are also vegetarian options if that is more your style. It is not the cheapest place to eat, but well worth the cost!

Gamer’s Haven
If you are like us, any new place you visit you want to do a bit of shopping for your fantasy horde. We visited plenty of shops during the year we lived in Colorado Springs, but our favorite was Gamer’s Haven. Tucked away but with plenty of merchandise, we went there time and again for our D&D game supplies.
E3 did not disappoint when it came to showing off indie games and one in particular that stood out is Dark Deity. It didn’t just get one moment to shine, it actually got two standout moments during E3 over two days. The first during the Freedom Games Showcase and the second at the GameSpot Play For All closing event. Not bad for a creative team of five friends who got together to make a game.
As fans of all things fantasy it was one of the best looking fantasy games revealed at the event and we just had to learn more about Dark Deity and its development. So, we reached out to the team to find out more about its production.
Dark Deity launched as a huge surprise the final day of E3. It is a strategy RPG with 30 playable characters and 54 classes that is very much inspired by classic RPG games of the 90s and early 2000s. We sent our questions off to the team and here’s what Game Director Chip Moore had to say about Dark Deity.
Inspiring Creativity
For Sword and Axe having their first game featured at E3 multiple times was an exciting opportunity for the entire team. Dark Deity was made with five people including Game Director Charles “Chip” Moore, Business Manager Dylan Takeyama, Composer Sam Huss, Map Artist Jonathan Kinda, and Narrative Designer Nick Solari. But it all started with the desire to just create.
“Dylan and I [Chip] had dreamt of getting into game development together for years, so in large part it was a manifestation of that goal – we were both approaching the end of college and realized this may be our last good chance to give game development a real shot. Our love for games like Fire Emblem and Final Fantasy Tactics obviously played a huge role in the genre we chose to develop in, but the game also has influence from a wide variety of other genres.”
The inspiration from other games can certainly be felt and seen in the trailer and gameplay of Dark Deity. But developing the game, let alone any game, isn’t without it’s challenges. To ensure Dark Deity saw a release and was produced at all, the team put it on Kickstarter in August of 2020. That decision ended with the game being fully backed in just seven hours.
We want players to feel powerful and like their choices matter
“Given that Dark Deity is our first game, there were a lot of bumps early on as we learned different skills and figured out our strengths and weaknesses. Reigning in scope and learning to know when something is out of our range was a tough lesson to take early on, and something we really focused on doing well.”
The crew taught themselves coding and learned to develop the game all their own using GameMaker Studio 2. Development was going rather well for Sword and Axe but they still needed a publisher. They struck a deal with Freedom Games in 2021, just three months before the games release.
Fallible Characters in a Living World
When it came time to design the world of Dark Deity building the land of Terrazael began with the characters. Since players would be spending a lot of time with them, the team wanted to make each one unique and realistic. This helped build one central theme to Dark Deity, that failure is normal and even characters fail.
“Overcoming adversity while staying true to your ideals was important to us to explore. We’ve found that many stories have an infallible hero or don’t touch on just how hard it is to deal with loss and fear.”
In creating heroes that may not succeed at everything, the game feels more realistic. It’s difficult to connect with a character that constantly overcomes all odds. Having characters who struggle to complete challenges imitates life. Players are able to establish a connection with them knowing that they too may have the same difficulties. That idea is something that can be found within the game’s conversations.
Having an extensive framework for where characters are from, how they grew up, and how the culture of where they’re from shapes them was key to building our characters.
“Our bond system and the extensive conversations in it really allowed us to explore many of the characters and their relations to the events of the story on a deeper level. Having some of our characters showing vulnerability to their closest friends really allowed us to dig into their motivations in an authentic way.”
When it comes to the characters themselves.
“We spent a huge amount of time building out the world of Terrazael and trying to craft a place that feels real and caters to characters that have genuine motivations and backgrounds. Having an extensive framework for where characters are from, how they grew up, and how the culture of where they’re from shapes them was key to building our characters. We didn’t want to just take an archetype and make characters to fit a role – we really did start from the ground up and build a person first, character second.”
It’s an idea pulled from Fire Emblem: Three Houses. It’s a way to interact with the characters and adds way more detail and life to the game. Yes, it may be about fighting and defeating enemies but at its heart, Dark Deity is more than just 2D sprites on a stunning background. The characters are living and breathing and feel like people you’d come across in everyday life.
Impactful Decisions
Dark Deity is also built specifically for fans of the RPG genre. The passion the development team have for nostalgic games of the past is alive and well in every aspect of Dark Deity. It’s designed for players with that same passion for turn-based strategy games and fantasy fans alike.
“We want players to feel powerful and like their choices matter – there is so much potential for amazing late game builds that allow the player to bring out their creativity and have fun with the systems we’ve created. Along with the randomizer and campaign customization, we’re hoping that getting to play it countless times while really having a different experience each time is going to bring out that creativity.”
Throughout it’s more than two dozen chapters, players can expect a lengthy story with hours of playtime and replayability.
“The game has 28 “chapters” and we’ve seen the average playthrough take between 20 – 30 hours over. Obviously once you get familiar with the game, you can plow through maps a bit faster, but if you want to consume every dialogue in our bonds system, you’ve got hundreds of conversations to listen to.
Dark Deity is a spiritual successor to popular SPRGs and feels every bit as exceptional as Fire Emblem and Final Fantasy Tactics. It’s got an adoring fan base and a passionate development team that understands how to create heroes players can connect with.
The final day of E3 2021 saw the Nintendo Direct and along with it a lot of upcoming fantasy games. We chose a few of our favorites and ones perfect for any fantasy fan.
Hyrule Warriors Expansion Pass
Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity is a hack-and-slash game where characters from the Legend of Zelda series fight hordes of monsters. The prequel set 100 years before Breath of the Wild is getting two DLC’s called Pulse of the Ancients on 18th June and Guardian of Remembrance in November. There was a new short trailer highlighting what to expect.
Sequel to the Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild
One of the biggest announcements was a trailer for the Sequel to the Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. It included the first gameplay footage of the upcoming title and a vague reveal date of 2022. It showed off a bit of the open world which contains familiar landmarks but also features new ones. There are floating islands like Skyward Sword and it appears Link – or someone- may lose their hand at some point during the game.
Game & Watch: The Legend of Zelda
Nintendo also announced a Game & Watch: The Legend of Zelda handheld. While not a major announcement it’s still in the realm of fantasy as it includes the original Legend of Zelda, Zelda II: The Adventure of Link, and the Game Boy version of Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening.
Astria Ascending
Astria Ascending is a turn-based JRPG from Artisan Studios and Dear Villagers. It’s set to have around 50 hours of gameplay so it will take up a good amount of time. There will be eight characters to play and 20 classes to choose from. Aria Ascending releases September 30 on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Switch, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox Game Pass and PC.
E3 2021 day three is in the books and we’re here to talk about some fantasy games that caught our eye. From a Dark Souls-inspired RPG, medieval mice fighting frogs, and a Fire Emblem-Esque SRPG, here are our favorite fantasy indie games revealed during day three of E3.
Eldest Souls
If the name Eldest Souls strikes a chord in your heart there is a reason. It is a Souls-like Boss Rush fantasy pixel art game releasing this summer. From Flag Studios and publisher United Label, Eldest Souls was revealed during the Future Games Show event. It’s reminiscent of Dead Cells in how it looks and its fast-paced combat. It’s set in a dark fantasy world where the Old Gods destroyed the world and left it in ruins. It will have a lot of similar features to that of the Souls games as well.
The main focus will be on defeating bosses and upgrading the main character’s stats and abilities. Check out the narrative trailer to get a feel for the story yourself.
It will release on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and PC on Thursday, July 29, 2021.
Tails of Iron
Tails of Iron is an odd yet interesting looking fantasy RPG involving a war between mice and frogs. It’s another Souls-inspired game with a unique narrative. The trailer showcases the story – narrated by Doug Cockle the voice of Geralt of Rivia – though whether he is a character in the game remains to be heard. It’s a cute and spooky looking game that is certainly built for those who like dark fantasy with a bit of fairy tale thrown in. Tails of Iron releases 2021, on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and PC
Dark Deity
Dark Deity is the spiritual successor to the Fire Emblem series. It’s a turn-based SRPG with 30 playable characters, 54 classes, and hundreds of weapons. It has the look and feel of a classic Fire Emblem GBA game and we’re all about it. The trailer even begins with a slow pan of the world map and we’re a sucker for games, books, or movies that showcase their world through a map.
Dark Deity was successfully funded through Kickstarter. It also features voiced characters, hundreds of dialogue options, and a way to progress and build friendships with your troops. Dark Deity is out now on Steam.
Anuchard
Anuchard seems like the kind of tale you’d find in a Dungeons & Dragons campaign. It’s a stylized classic retro 2D fantasy RPG where the main character , called the Bellwielder, wields a bell as a weapon. If that isn’t an improvised D&D weapon, we aren’t sure what qualifies. It also seems to be heavily inspired by The Legend of Zelda and will include a dungeon with its own puzzles to solve. And you can also cook your own food, so that’s cool. Anuchard will release on PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S systems in 2022.
The E3 2021 Xbox Bethesda Showcase was packed full of new exclusive Xbox games. From the many fantasy games revealed during the hour and half event, we selected a few we really liked. From sequels, remakes, and updated live games, here are our favorite fantasy games showcased during the E3 event.
Diablo 2: Resurrected
Blizzard Entertainment released Diablo 2 in 2000 and will release the completely remastered version in 2021 as Diablo 2: Resurrected. It’s got your typical Dungeons & Dragons vibe to it. There are devils, undead, demons, and angels and seven classes to choose from including paladin, druid, barbarian, necromancer, assassin, amazon, and sorceress. Resurrected is set to release September 23, 2021.
Sea of Thieves: A Pirates Life
Pirates of the Caribbean will officially meet up with Sea of Thieves in Sea of Thieves: A Pirates Life. The pirate adventure game introduces Captain Jack Sparrow – I almost forgot the captain title – Davy Jones, Tia Dalma, and Joshamee Gibbs to the video game world. It will tell a brand new story featuring the witty pirate and his rival Jones. So. while it may not be a canon – pun intended – story within the Pirates movie verse, it looks fun all the same. The free update launches June 22.
Redfall
Redfall is the newest title from Arkane Studios Austin, the team who made the Dishonored series. At first glance, Redfall might seem more science fiction than fantasy but it has vampires, zombies, and all sorts of other creepy nightmarish ghouls and monsters. The gist is vampires blocked out the sun in Redfall, Massachusetts preventing anyone from escaping. It includes a diverse cast of characters who all look absolutely amazing. It’s an open-world co-op first person shooter set to release in summer 2022.
A Plague Tale: Requiem
A Plague Tale: Innocence was our game of the year in 2019 and we’re excited to see the sequel A Plague Tale: Requiem. The first game is set in France during the plague and follows brother and sister Hugo and Amicia de Rune. While rats may be responsible for carrying the disease they turn out to be a much larger threat deeper into the game. It’s an emotional story set in a dark world with deep and engaging characters from the heroes to the villains. The announcement was our favorite of the showcase for sure. It releases in 2022.
Eiyuden Chronicle: Rising & Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes by Rabbit & Bear Studios and 505 Games are more traditional JRPGs. Hundred Heroes specifically holds the title as the third-most successful Kickstarter video game to be crowdfunded. It features the unique art style of Octopath Traveler and the feel of traditional RPGs. There will be a 6-character battle system with 2D sprites and full 3D backgrounds. Whereas Rising appears to be a different game altogether and will include a town-building mechanic, combat, and is set before the events of Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes cast of characters.
